“Childhood is a chance for kids to discover who they are before the world tells them who they should be.” — Allison Banfield

In the midst of pandemic isolation and the containment of continuous day-to-day life at home, I began to notice how my children revealed themselves to me within this intimate space by how they chose to fill up their days — how they reacted to home-schooling and seclusion, how they intentionally spent their downtime, and how they related within the family and the physical elements within their environment.
Human behavior is constantly evolving during the early years of development causing personalities and relationship dynamics to continue to bend and change. With photography, I examined how they made sense of their identities, how they navigated evolving relationships, how they defined boundaries within our family, and witnessed the moments they demonstrated their unique personalities.
